Prom Perfect is a statewide educational awareness program that focuses on media messaging around the entire prom season. Locally, Beaverton Together, Tigard Turns the Tide, HEY!, and Oregon Partnership funded by Washington County Commission on Children and Families have worked with Washington County Schools in implementing the Prom Perfect campagin. Prom season is not just a single event that occurs on prom night, it is a season that creates a teen and community culture around prom celebrations. Students, parents, administrators are involved in the planning and businesses participate as vendors providing a variety of services and products that help to make the night of the prom dance unforgettable for the teens involved. Teenagers themselves can prepare for weeks, shopping for dresses, finding a tuxedo, finding a dinner restaurant, choosing flowers etc., all to make the prom night special.

Prom is consider a Right of Passage for most american youth. Teens have told us that because prom is so important that they feel pressured to participate and in engage in behavior that they might not have normally engaged in. In some cases, the culture around prom night preparation can also include how to purchase and use illegal substances. It is our goal to engage entire communities to raise awareness around the importance of safe and substance free prom nights. By working with parents, students, schools, prom related businesses and community vendors; we can send a strong message to teens and parents that prom night can be a wonderful experience without using alcohol and drugs.
